In order to further increase the torque, expand the transmission range and improve the adaptability of the vehicle, an auxiliary transmission step gear transmission is installed behind the Torque converter. Most of the gear transmissions use planetary gears for transmission.
The planetary gear transmission is composed of planetary gear mechanism, clutch, brake, one-way clutch and other executing components. Planetary gear mechanisms are usually composed of multiple planetary gears, and the number of planetary gears is related to the number of gears. The shift actuator components of a star gear transmission include a shift clutch, a shift brake, and a one-way clutch. The shift clutch is a wet multi plate clutch, which engages when the hydraulic pressure causes the piston to compress the active and driven plates; When the working fluid is discharged from the piston cylinder, the return spring causes the piston to retract and the clutch to disengage.
There are usually two forms of shift brakes: one is a wet multi disc brake, which has a structure similar to that of a wet multi disc clutch. The difference is that the brake is used to connect the rotating parts and the transmission housing, preventing the rotating parts from rotating. Another form of shift brake is an external band brake. The one-way clutch of the planetary gear transmission has the same structure as the one-way clutch in the Torque converter.
